Alpha Micro Components (www.alphamicro.net) is a highly successful independent distributor of electronic components.  In 2004 Alpha Micro started working with Road Angel to develop a low cost asset tracking system targeted at vehicle lease companies.

The solution was designed to detect movement so that it could provide position fixes for the start and end of each journey. Using this data, it was able to calculate the number of miles travelled and the duration of the journey.

As the usage of this system grew, fleet managers started to demand even more information about their vehicles in relation to positioning, activity and maintenance. This increased the volume of information that had to be retained in the system exponentially. It also led to a marked increased in the frequency and quantity of users accessing their data through the web portal which led to a demand for further bandwidth and performance requirements. Together these factors placed a great deal of pressure on the hosting infrastructure leading to a potentially poor user experience online.

The company needed a partner that could not only stabilise its offering, but also provide a platform that could adapt as the business expanded.  NetBenefit stood out due to the bespoke nature of its services and its approach to designing solutions that are tailored to each customer’s business requirements.
