Latest CPU architecture
The Xeon processors in NetBenefit's mid and high-end Linux web server range are based upon Intel’s Woodcrest architecture. Woodcrest is a completely new Intel Microarchitecture . It has a single CPU cache instead of 2 separate CPU caches, as well as a faster Front Side Bus (FSB). This results in a much higher performance than previous Intel processors, even though the clock speed (GHz) is lower. An older 3.2GHz Xeon CPU will actually deliver less performance than the latest 2GHz Intel Woodcrest CPU, for example.
