Retailers need to stay online to benefit from internet boom

Intro Text:

Online retailers are bucking the trend of their high street counterparts by reporting roaring growth, despite the apparent economic downturn, according to a recent report by Verdict Research Consulting.

With more and more consumers turning to the Internet to bag a bargain, the question of resilience and scalability needs to be high on the priority list for retailers to ensure they are able to maximise the opportunity.

Jonathan Robinson, COO at managed hosting provider NetBenefit comments: "Continued growth in online shopping equates to a significant increase in the volume of visitor traffic to ecommerce websites.  Research shows that more than one in four customers is likely to move to a competitor if a website is down for any reason.  For retailers this would not only damage customer loyalty but also mean significant lost revenue.  Retail brands need to offer a quality user experience 24x7 irrespective of whether a seasonal promotion is attracting record levels of traffic or visitors are at a minimum in the early hours of the morning.

"Many retailers go to great lengths to protect their physical assets with burglar alarms and other security devices, yet they do little or nothing to protect their online business which is playing an increasingly important financial role for retailers. These businesses need to think about securing their websites with disaster recovery and business continuity plans just as they would do for their bricks and mortar sites.

"NetBenefit focuses on delivering managed hosting solutions designed to fit its clients’ business requirements. Through its advanced infrastructure, NetBenefit can offer dual site resilience to ensure that websites remain highly available. Our managed hosting solutions have resilience built in at every level, whether it is a single server solution, load balanced hosting platform or disaster recovery across multiple sites."
