NetBenefit adds Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to its customer offering
NetBenefit, one of the UK’s most experienced managed hosting providers and an established Microsoft Gold partner, today announces the availability of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to its customers.
Providing the highest level of security, reliability and scalability for business-critical applications, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 adds many new features and key improvements to the data management and business intelligence platform. For the first time, it will also offer a feature rich web edition offering high end features not previously available at this level. NetBenefit customers, from entry level to enterprise, will now be able to benefit from the most robust and comprehensive SQL Server to date.
The additional features of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 will allow organisations to increase efficiency whilst providing enhanced user experience. The benefits include:
- Managing concurrent workloads – Resource Governor allows organisations to define resource limits and priorities, providing a consistent and predictable user experience
- Increased query programme – ability to query across both relational and text data
- Reduced storage requirements – improved data compression facilitates more effective storage of data, reducing storage requirements and significantly improving performance for even the largest data warehouses
- Improved archiving and disaster recovery – backup compression means less storage is required and backups run significantly faster
- Versatility of data stored – seamless transition between managing relational and non-relational data enables users to easily access documents as data and encode complex hierarchies within XML
Some NetBenefit customers are already experiencing the benefits Microsoft SQL Server 2008 offers. Westminster Group Plc use the hosting platform for its multilingual, 'Generation 2' security and defence website, believed to be the largest security website in the world. Guy McNeill, technical manager at Westminster Group comments: "Westminster was keen to benefit from all of the latest SQL 2008 features and as a Microsoft hosting partner, NetBenefit worked with us to develop a suitable solution. The sheer volume of products alone meant that it was a very complex project. NetBenefit’s technical support throughout the project enabled us to launch what we believe is the largest security products website worldwide, using the very latest cutting edge technology."
Michael Hassan, product manager, NetBenefit, concludes: "As a Microsoft Gold partner we have the skills and experience needed to help customers like Westminster Group make the best of Microsoft’s technology. The whole project is a great example of how NetBenefit works with its customers to build managed hosting solutions tailored to fit their business needs."
