NetBenefit to sponsor the Spirit of London Awards
NetBenefit today announces its sponsorship of The Spirit of London Awards 2009. Launched at the Damilola Taylor memorial service, the awards celebrate and reward young people who have exceeded the norm and achieved greatness whether it’s through sport, business, arts or the community.
Developed by the Damilola Taylor Trust, the awards celebrate all that is good about the young people of London. Too often a minority element hogs the headlines and creates an impression of negativity, yet there are plenty of champions working hard in their local communities. The Trust celebrates these positive role models and hopes that the Spirit of London will become a standard to which people will aspire.
Colin Bell, managing director, NetBenefit, says: "NetBenefit is headquartered in London and we are proud to be associated with this inspirational programme for the capital’s youth.
"With the positive involvement of the likes of Daley Thompson, Brooke Kinsella, Rio Ferdinand, Richard Taylor and the Mayor of London’s Advisor for young people, James Cleverly as category judges, the Spirit of London awards are a great way to recognise the contribution to society that many talented youngsters are making in London. We have worked closely with design agency Digital Marmalade to provide a hosting platform for spiritoflondon.co.uk, the website which will underpin the awards campaign. We are delighted to be taking part in this inspirational initiative."
Tony Brennand, Digital Marmalade, said: "We are proud to have worked on the launch of the Spirit of London awards. The awards have attracted the support of some of London’s existing heroes, and will recognise the young people of our capital city as well as promoting the need to do something positive in the fight against knife crime."
Gary Trowsdale, the awards founder said: "The Damilola Taylor Trust is extremely grateful for the outstanding work carried out by Digital Marmalade on the development of the site, and the ongoing support package provided by NetBenefit. We look forward to a long, productive working relationship with both of our online partners as the Spirit of London awards become a standard in the awards calendar for the positive contribution of young people towards making London the most vibrant city in the World."
