Online marketers don't know what Content Delivery Networks can do for them

Research from managed hosting provider NetBenefit reveals that almost half  of those surveyed did not know whether their companies were using or considering CDN services to supplement their managed hosting infrastructure. A further 30% were definitely not using a Content Delivery Network.

This suggests a low awareness of the key factors that can ruin campaigns, such as surges of web traffic, and underlines the need for marketers to work closely with their technology teams and providers to help campaigns reach their potential.

CDN services add value by placing content on the server nearest to each website visitor. They can be deployed quickly and scaled up as needed, providing the reassuring certainty that the site can be accessed at all times.

"Marketers need to be confident that the big money spent on today’s integrated campaigns is not wasted by poorly performing websites," says Jonathan Robinson, chief operating officer at NetBenefit.

Quick loading pages and 100% availability are vital. CDN services can ensure visitors to the site experience the brand as intended.

The NetBenefit research was conducted in late 2008 and surveyed more than 60 in-house and agency marketing professionals in the UK. It was designed to gauge awareness of the importance of secure, scalable hosting platforms in relation to online marketing campaigns.
